Buy engine parts at myparto.com at a reasonable price

A vehicle cannot drive without an engine. This makes it all the more important to maintain it and the corresponding spare parts regularly and to handle them with care. However, if something should fall victim to wear and tear, it is advisable to install original spare parts. In this category you will find innumerable original parts of the vehicle manufacturers divided into the respective product groups. How an engine is constructed and which components have which function, we have compiled for you at the bottom of the page.

How is a motor constructed and which functions does which component have?

The engine is the heart of every car. However, its mode of operation is very different. In addition to combustion engines, cars with electric and hybrid engines also have a firm place on the car market today. They are not necessarily dependent on the supply of fossil fuel. However, the petrol engine and the diesel engine are still the most widespread. After all, around 90 percent of all German cars run on petrol or diesel fuel.

As a classic vehicle engine consists of around 1,200 to 1,400 individual parts, defects can hardly be avoided in the course of a car's life. Especially wear and tear can make it necessary to replace spark plugs, glow plugs, filters, V-belts or timing belts. If a defective or worn component is not replaced in good time, this can limit the driving capability of the car or completely paralyse it. Here you can find out what you should look out for in a combustion engine and what differences exist between a petrol engine and a diesel engine.

Gasoline engine vs. diesel engine - where are the differences?

Both engine variants work with fossil fuel from which they extract mechanical energy through a series of explosions. What is different, however, is the way in which they do this:

Fuel combustion in gasoline engine:

  1. Fuel is mixed with air in the intake tract
  2. The piston compresses the mixture of air and gasoline
  3. The spark plug ignites the mixture - an explosion
  4. occurs
  5. The piston forces the exhaust gas through the exhaust valve

Fuel combustion in diesel engines

  1. The inlet valve allows air to flow in
  2. The piston moves up and compresses the air, causing it to heat up strongly
  3. The valve injects diesel at the right time - an explosion occurs
  4. The piston forces the exhaust gas through the exhaust valve

The diesel engine does not require spark plugs due to the different type of fuel combustion. Instead, it causes the fuel to explode due to the extremely strong compression. Higher compression means more efficient fuel combustion and lower fuel consumption at the same time.

The spark plugs in the combustion engine are wear parts and should be replaced every 40,000 kilometers. A defect often leads to starting problems. To avoid this, you should order new spark plugs for your car on myparto.com in good time.

Which parts belong to a combustion engine?

As already mentioned, a combustion engine consists of far more than 1,000 individual parts. Modern gasoline and diesel engines in particular are equipped with a great deal of technology and sensors that record and monitor every parameter of the engine. However, the basic components responsible for combustion are always the same:

  • The camshaft controls the flow of air and fuel into the intake and exhaust valves
  • The inlet valve allows fuel and / or air to flow into the cylinder
  • The piston attached to the crankshaft via the connecting rod compresses the air or the mixture
  • The oil pan under the flywheel mass of the crankshaft ensures constant lubrication
  • The exhaust valve allows the exhaust gas to enter the exhaust tract of the vehicle
  • The crankshaft converts the energy into a rotary motion

Other essential components of an engine are:

  • Injection system (injects fuel directly into the combustion chamber)
  • Cooler (reduces engine temperature during operation)
  • Air mass meter (provides the optimal air-fuel mixture)
  • Oil pump (lubricates the engine)
  • Belt and timing drive (drives the camshaft among other things)
  • Valves (seal the unit and ensure optimum gas change)
  • Cylinder head (seals the combustion chamber at the top)

Frequent defects in the engine and how to fix them quickly

The many individual parts can lead to various defects in the combustion engine. These hardly differ between gasoline and diesel engines. We have summarized two of the most common defects in the combustion engine for you here:

  1. oil pump defective
The motor is dependent on a constant supply of lubricant. This is ensured by the oil pump. If it is defective, this can lead to insufficient lubrication of individual parts. The damage is first noticeable by a decreasing oil pressure. This indication requires quick action. A lack of oil pressure in the combustion engine can permanently lead to a defect in the turbo, and in the worst case to major engine damage. If an oil pump needs to be replaced, we recommend an original spare part. This guarantees 100% accuracy of fit and a long service life due to its excellent quality. Original oil pumps and other original spare parts for oil supply such as oil pans, oil caps and oil pan seals can be found for many makes in our range.

  2. Cylinder head gasket defective
Seals in particular are subject to high wear. If they become brittle, operating fluids can escape or get into other areas of the engine. The result is defects that can lead to the car becoming unfit to drive.
If the engine temperature rises, your car loses coolant or oil has mixed with coolant, the cause may be a defective cylinder head gasket. As the worst case scenario could lead to engine damage, you should have the defective part replaced quickly or replace it yourself. This also applies to many other seals such as the valve cover gasket or the shaft sealing rings.

Motor defective? Original spare parts from myparto.com help to repair

engines consist of many individual parts that are more or less affected by wear. While some defects in the petrol and diesel engines do not lead to any restrictions, others restrict the driving behaviour or cause the engine to fail completely. We recommend that only original parts be used for repairs. They are tested and particularly durable and ensure that you can always rely on your car. On myparto.com you will find a wide range of original spare parts from leading vehicle manufacturers at a reasonable price. Are you unsure which parts will fit your car?
