The following Audi oil approvals are currently valid:

VW 504 00: is a Longlife III engine oil for gasoline engines, whether they have a Longlife service or not. This Audi oil release replaces the previous releases VW 500 00 - VW 503 01. The Longlife III engine oil is therefore backward compatible and can therefore also be used by older vehicles.
VW 507 00: is a Longlife III engine oil for diesel engines, whether they have a Longlife service or not. This Audi oil release replaces the previous releases VW 505 00 - VW 506 01. This release is also backwards compatible and can be used for older vehicles.
VW 508 00: is a Longlife IV engine oil for gasoline engines, whether they have a Longlife service or not. However, they are not backward compatible and have a designated SAE class of 0W-20
VW 509 00: is a Longlife IV engine oil for diesel engines, whether they have a Longlife service or not. However, they are not backward compatible and also have a designated SAE class of 0W-20
VW 511 00: is a special high-performance engine oil for selected gasoline engines that have a particulate filter

The information on Audi oil approvals can generally be found in your vehicle's service booklet. Audi deliberately only uses longlife oils, even though vehicles with a longlife service benefit from them the most. On vehicles with a Longlife service, oil changes are dynamically adjusted to the load on the engine. As a result, a vehicle may only need to have its oil changed after 30,000 or even 50,000 km. Of course, the high-quality Longlife III engine oils also represent added value for vehicles without a Longlife service, as they also protect your vehicle better against corrosion and wear thanks to the improved formula and the high-quality ingredients. For them, too, this leads to an extended service life of their engine and surrounding parts.

The best way to buy Audi engine oil is to select your vehicle on the store. This reduces the selection to only suitable products for your car. In addition to the manufacturer's approval, the SAE class is also important. This value indicates the flow properties at different temperatures. For example, the SAE class can be 5W30 and means that the engine oil remains fluid in the temperature range from -30°C to +30°C and reliably supplies the engine with oil. You will find the SAE class specification on the oil filler neck. There should be an oil change slip attached to the filler neck with the details of the engine oil currently being filled in.
